This book is an Introduction to the RLISP'88 programming language. RLISP'88 includes a preprocessor that coverts the RLISP'88 syntax into Lisp, and an unprase from Lisp back into RLISP'88. The syntax of RLISP'88 resembles that of conventional programming languages with statements separated bysemicolons and infix operators rather than prefix expressions. The syntax is more palatable than "straight" Lisp and provides other advantages as well: (1) The code is portable at a number of levels. (2) The code is more legible than conventional Lisp programs where large numbers of macro functions obscure meaning. In addition to an exposition of the language's syntax and semantics, this book serves as an arbiter of programming and annotation style.
