No one can underestimate the continuing importance of the cultural traditional media (CTM) to the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Whether orally transmitted or orally transmitted with music or performed by artists as dance or dance-drama or done with puppets, those CTM have emerged as priceless assets to any nation. For the third project, the CTM forms chosen by the countries were the: diangdangan (Brunei Darussalam); kethoprak (Indonesia); berbalas pantun (Malaysia); komedya (Philippines); Chinese hand puppetry (Singapore); and likay (Thailand). The present book compiles the country essays which give the form's definition and history, the project's script and production, and the evaluation of the CTM form as a vehicle for modern message. //ir
